We Send Our Guests Three Playlists

We're still reviewing applications for 2026. In the last 72 hours, travelers booked spots for Brazil, India, and Japan. Apply here.

We send our Casa Violeta guests three Spotify playlists before their trip.

One for each moment in the house that you can only experience in that exact place, at that exact time.

The first is for mornings. Fresh coffee from the french press, tropical birds going buck wild as the sun starts to crack through the palms — you're in the middle of a colorful colonial town, but the house makes you feel like the jungle came to you. The world is still half-asleep around you.

Then there's the one for afternoons around the pool—when you're feeling a little buzzy, drinking rum and cokes, the heat is intense, but the pool keeps you cool and refreshed. This mix is spicy.

The third is for sunset on the terrace — passion fruit margaritas, Volcano Mombacho catching the last of the light, the sky cycling through oranges and yellows and deep purples before it's done.

The idea is simple. We're thinking about how the house feels at different moments — the light, the birds, the shade of the banana leaves, the way they move around you. Music that enhances what's already there. Not background noise. Something that makes each moment land a little harder.

“Absolutely stunning home that was even better in person than in the pictures — and the pictures are beautiful. Everything is very well thought out. It's not only beautifully designed but full of great amenities. From the elegant decorations to the lush plants and beautiful rooms, this is the perfect place to truly unwind." -- Airbnb Review

So if you need a little mental vacay today, enjoy the playlists! Happy Sunday!

If you want to experience it yourself, we have some summer openings. And if you'd like help building out a full Nicaragua itinerary — volcanoes, surf, crater lakes, boutique hotels on the islands, a candlelight dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Latin America — just reply and we'll take it from there.

Check out Casa Violeta and our availability here.

xx,

Katalina

JUNE 2026 Ayubowan! It means "may you live long" in Sinhalese. It's the greeting we've been hearing everywhere — from hotel staff, from strangers, from the dancers we found ourselves moving alongside this morning in the city of Kandy. If you haven't guessed already or peeped our Instagram this week, we're a few days into El Camino's first Sri Lanka trip. We started in Colombo, where we visited an artist cooperative in the middle of the city that had one of the coolest listening rooms I've...

JUNE 2026 Hello everyone from the Marrakesh airport. I just wrapped up co-facilitating a workshop on the future of travel and experiential design with Thierry Teyssier, founder of Dar Ahlam — a property that genuinely defies description. I don’t say that lightly. The idea was simple. Bring people together from our networks who think differently about travel, who think outside the box, genuinely brilliant, and go deep on experiential design. Not the surface version. Now I'm headed off to our...

MAY 2026 THE LATEST ECT Moodboard Hi everyone, I'm currently writing this from Istanbul Airport, on my way to Mongolia to finalize details for our September trip. If you're interested in a behind-the-scenes look at how the "sausage is made" (so to speak) for a travel company, you can follow along here. I will be posting dispatches from the field. Speaking of what's ahead — the results from our 2027 destination survey have been fascinating to watch come in. So far, 175 of you have weighed in,...
